WELCOME! COME SIT IN THE SHADE A WHILE!

Shade of the Bo Tree specializes in handcrafted meditation cushions to enhance your sitting meditation, including zafus, zabutons, sangha pillows, and other meditation aids. Lovingly made by hand, one at a time, these cushions help to support your spine in correct upright alignment, and they will help you maintain a pleasant, comfortable meditation practice.

Our Name: The original Bo Tree (Bodhi Tree), the one under which the Buddha was sitting when he attained enlightenment, was actually a ficus religiosa. It was apparently named for the place in which it grew, Bodh Gaya. Although the original tree was destroyed many centuries ago, many contemporary Buddhist temples have Bodhi trees planted on their grounds, and the tree has come to be recognized as a symbol of Buddhist thought and practice. Living in the Sonoran desert, I have developed a profound appreciation for trees and the life-giving shade they provide, and so Shade of the Bo Tree represents my path, my humble efforts at right livelihood, and my love and respect for the natural world.

Grab a cup of tea, settle in, and have a look around. You're sure to find something perfect for yourself or a friend. And if not, just let me know what you have in mind. Custom orders are always welcome.

If you are new to sitting meditation and don't know exactly what kind of cushions will be best for you, you'll want to have a look at my Guide to Choosing Meditation Cushions.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions, comments, or suggestions. Thank you for stopping by, and do come again. New things are added regularly as inspiration strikes me, and over the coming weeks I'll be adding some additional meditation aids, so check back often.
